Unit 11 - Sectionalism

Unit 11

Sectionalism

America was divided into “sections” with many regional differences

NORTH:  Large, over populated cities, pollution due to the use of factories.

SOUTH:  Agrarian society based on the plantation system.

WEST:  Cheap land being given away to people willing to farm the new territory.

Sections of America

North vs. South vs. West

North and West were growing rapidly.

South was NOT interested in changing anything.

The West needed Northern manufactured goods and railroads.

The North needed food and natural resources from the West.

Sectionalism Sam

The South feels left out!!!
