Art

Students will be introduced to the many aspects of Art in this class, which include;

            The Elements of Art,

 The Principles of Design,

Art Criticism

Art History. 

Students will begin with the basics of drawing and how to “See”.  Students will experiment with various types of Art Media such as, graphite, colored pencil, charcoal, ink, and pastels for drawing.  They will have opportunities to work with Tempera Paint and Watercolors in painting, and for three dimensional art they will get to use clay and paper mache’.  Students will learn the techniques of 3D drawing and shading, the use of perspective and light and shadow.  Students will get the chance to use their self-expression in many projects.

There will be opportunities to enter various art contests throughout the year, some are;

HoustonRodeo Student Art Contest, Angelina County Youth Fair, Texas Beaches poster contest, and various others as they come up.

Students who enter the art program are required to bring their best attitude and creativity.  We will provide them the means to reach their creative genius.
