Genotype vs. Phenotype

Genotype Phenotype
  • the entire genetic makeup of an organism
  • shown by using letters to represent the alleles from each parent    (BB, Bb, bb)
  • Capital letter – dominant trait – will always show if present
  • Lowercase letter – recessive – will only show if two of them
  • If the alleles are the same (BB or bb) the organism is homozygous for the trait
  • If the alleles are different (Bb) the organism is heterozygous for the trait
  •
  • Physical characteristics or observable traits
  • Is determined by an organisms genotype
  • Image result for phenotype vs genotype
