HMS Course Information
6th grade:
All 6th grade students are required to take Math, Language Arts/Reading, World History, Science, and PE. 6th graders get to choose ONE elective; however, students required to be in an academic intervention class may not have the option of being in a chosen elective class.
7th grade:
All 7th grade students are required to take Math, Language Arts/Reading, World History, Science, Health (1 semester), and Technology (1 semester). 7th graders get to choose ONE elective; however, students may opt out of tutorials and choose an extra elective if: a) student has had good attendance in 6th grade, b) student has maintained good grades during 6th grade, AND c) student does not require remediation in a subject area.
8th grade:
All 8th grade students are required to take Math, Language Arts/Reading, World History, and Science. 8th graders get to choose TWO electives. Hudson Middle School also offers a variety of ways to accrue high school credit while in the 8th grade. Students who enroll in the following classes are eligible to earn high school credit: ALGEBRA 1; PRINCIPLES OF ENGINEERING & AERONAUTICS; PRINCIPLES OF AGRICULTURE, FOOD, & NATURAL RESOURCES; PRINCIPLES OF BIOSCIENCE; JOURNALISM (YEARBOOK); and ART 1 (REQUIRES 2 YEARS OF MS ART).
Advanced classes are available for all core courses in all grades. Advanced and HS Credit Courses have selection criteria and limited enrollment.
